There will be rehearsals on Friday night (Scouts & Explorers only) and all day Saturday (Cubs, Scouts & Explorers) and Sunday Morning (All Sections) with the show taking place on Sunday Afternoon Who can take part? We are inviting all young people in the district to take part in the show. Cubs, Scouts & Explorers can attend by themselves and just require a parent to complete the sign up form for them. For Squirrels and Beavers please talk to your section leaders for information. What is Gang Show? It’s an amazing event where Scouts from all sections come together to perform songs, skits, and maybe even a few surprises. The Gang Show has a rich history dating back to 1932 when Ralph Reader produced the very first show in London. Since then, Gang Shows have been an incredible opportunity for young people in scouting worldwide to showcase their talents on stage. The Gang Show is a fast-paced, lively revue featuring a mix of musical numbers and hilarious sketches, all performed by Scouts. The focus is on celebrating the talents of younger members, so whether you love to sing, act, or dance, this is your chance to shine! This is your opportunity to showcase your talents! You’ll be singing, acting, dancing—and above all, working together as a team. It’s not just about being on stage; it’s about learning new skills, building friendships, and having tons of fun along the way. If you are not keen to be on stage then for Scouts & Explorers there is also an opportunity to help out backstage. Take a look at this clip from past Wyre Forest Gang Shows What will happen on the weekend? We have a team of Explorer scouts who are taking the lead with putting the show together. The Show is being themed around a campfire talent show. On the Saturday Morning there will be a brain storming session where the explorer lead team will gather all your ideas together to help form the scenes in the show. You will then be split into group with each group forming one scene of the show, before all scene groups come together for the finale. There may be group songs / sketchs, we may utilise some skills / acts you already have to form solo sections but ultimatley how the show comes together will be down to you as the young people guided and supported along the way by some knowlegable leaders. We are aiming for the show to be around 1 hour long split into two 30 minute halves. Further infomation on allocation of tickets will be sent out in due course. What do we need to do to be in the show? There is no cost to be in the show and there is no audition process. All you need to do is sign up via the form below. However we are also at the same time recruiting leaders to act as chaperones for the day as we are required to maintain correct adult to young persons ratios. So unfortunatly if we don’t get enough adult support for the number of young people wanting to take part we may have to restrict numbers down the line but we really hope this won’t happen. Once signed up we are asking all participants to learn the song and actions to Crest of a Wave in advance of the weekend which is the traditional Gang Show finale song. You will find a link at the bottom of the page to the lyrics and backing tracks and action video to help you learn this song. Badges The Gang Show team have looked through the badge requrements and believe taking part in the show can count towards the following badges: Cubs & Scouts can work towards their Skills Challenge and Entertainers Badges Explorers can work towards their Performing Arts Badge Want to Sign Up?
